Growth changes a company. New offices open, new hires join, and time zones multiply. What once felt close can begin to stretch. For companies expanding internationally, maintaining connections across teams becomes more complex with every new milestone.

Founded as a technology company focused on building intuitive digital products that simplify everyday workflows, Air Apps has grown into an international team serving millions of users around the world. With that growth came new markets, new talent, and new operational complexity.

But alongside expansion, the company has placed a deliberate focus on something equally important: building a culture where high-performing teams can thrive while maintaining balance, connection, and well-being.

At its San Francisco office, located in the Presidio neighborhood, that philosophy is reflected in the daily environment. Surrounded by nature and just minutes from the Golden Gate Bridge, the location allows team members to step outside the traditional office setting and integrate movement, focus, and mental balance into their routines.

Health and performance are closely connected within the company’s culture. Team members regularly participate in running sessions and yoga during lunch breaks, creating space to recharge while encouraging a healthier lifestyle. These shared activities provide moments to reset during the workday while strengthening collaboration between colleagues.

The company also supports this lifestyle through its workplace environment. Air Apps provides breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks for the team, with meals intentionally planned around healthy ingredients and balanced nutrition. The goal is simple: create the conditions where employees can maintain energy, focus, and well-being throughout the day.

For Air Apps, these practices are not just perks. They reflect a broader belief that healthy routines help support clarity, resilience, and the long-term performance of teams.

As the company strengthened its presence in the United States, leadership recognized that building strong teams required more than a healthy workplace environment.

Daily routines help teams perform well, but connection also grows through shared experiences outside of work. Creating space for those moments became an important part of how the company continues shaping its culture.

That thinking led to one of Air Apps’ most distinctive internal initiatives: Air Adventures.

A Monthly Tradition Built on Shared Moments

Air Adventures is a fully sponsored team-building initiative held once a month. Designed to bring colleagues together beyond their daily work routines, the program reflects a simple belief: strong collaboration is built through shared experiences.

“What began as a way to bring people together as we expanded to the US has become a meaningful part of our culture,” said Air Apps Founder Filipe Ferreira. “Air Adventures allows us to connect in a different setting and strengthen the relationships that support our work.”

The initiative reinforces the idea that high-performing teams are not built through work alone. Trust, communication, and creativity often grow in moments when colleagues connect outside the pressures of daily tasks.

Ferreira’s words capture the heart of the initiative and reflect the company’s broader commitment to building high-performing teams through experiences that strengthen trust, communication, and shared identity.

From BBQ Nights to Climbing Walls

San Francisco’s editions of Air Adventures have already created a rhythm of anticipation within the team. The first US gathering, a relaxed BBQ Night in September, marked the official start of the program in the American hub and set the tone for what the initiative would become: casual, open, and centered on conversation.

As the months unfolded, the experiences evolved, each one designed to strengthen collaboration in a different way. One standout was “The Great Houdini Escape Room,” where locked doors and ticking clocks pushed the team to think creatively and rely on one another under pressure. Another highlight came in the form of a Cocktail Lab, transforming mixology into a lively competition that blended creativity with connection.

For many team members, these moments offer the chance to interact with colleagues in ways that rarely happen during the workday.

“Air Adventures are one of the things that make working at Air Apps so special,” said Willow Buscaglia, Social Media Operator at Air Apps San Francisco. “They show how intentional the company is about building culture beyond day-to-day work. These experiences have given me the chance to connect with teammates I do not usually collaborate with and get to know everyone on a more personal level.”

The program has also included moments of reflection and celebration, such as a Holiday Dinner honoring milestones from the year, alongside more high-energy experiences, including an instructor-led climbing session and a trampoline gathering that encouraged movement and lighthearted competition.

For Austin Lee, Product Designer at Air Apps San Francisco, these gatherings help reveal a different side of the team.

“Air Adventures are very fun. It is a chance once a month to connect with teammates outside of the regular work environment,” he said. “Our last outing was at a trampoline park, and it was nice to see others being a bit more expressive and daring than they usually are. It was great to chat with teammates I would not normally work with and grow closer to the ones I do.”

Each month brings a new setting, but the spirit remains constant. These shared experiences help strengthen relationships across teams and often carry back into the workplace.

Culture as a Daily Commitment

Air Adventures reflects a broader philosophy within Air Apps about how strong teams are built. The company sees culture as something shaped through daily habits, shared experiences, and an environment that supports both well being and performance.

In San Francisco, that mindset is reflected in the rhythm of the workday. Team members often step away from their desks for running sessions or yoga breaks, creating moments to recharge before returning to their work with renewed focus. Meals are another important part of that routine. Throughout the day, the team gathers around balanced and healthy meals that help sustain energy while also creating space for informal conversations and connection.

Ferreira sees these everyday moments as an essential part of how teams grow together.

“Building great products requires great teams,” he said. “At Air Apps, we think about culture as the environment that allows people to do their best work. That includes everything from the routines we encourage in the office to the experiences we create outside of it. When people feel balanced, connected, and energized, teams collaborate better and perform at a higher level.”

Ferreira views initiatives like Air Adventures as an extension of that mindset. “At Air Apps, we think about culture as the environment that allows people to do their best work,” said Ferreira. “That includes everything from the routines we encourage in the office to the experiences we create outside of it. When people feel balanced, connected, and energized, teams collaborate better and perform at a higher level.”

The San Francisco office itself reinforces this philosophy. Located in a region surrounded by greenery, the setting offers an environment where stepping outside for a walk or a brief pause becomes part of the natural rhythm of the day. For Air Apps, that proximity to nature helps support the mental balance that allows teams to maintain focus and perform at a high level.

As the company continues expanding in the United States, initiatives like Air Adventures remain an important part of this culture. While these monthly gatherings bring colleagues together in new settings, they exist alongside the everyday routines that shape the workplace.

Over time, these moments, whether shared meals, outdoor breaks, or team adventures, help create the foundation of a culture where collaboration grows naturally and high-performing teams can thrive.
