Oakland police and the California Highway Patrol made multiple arrests and impounded more than 70 dirt bikes, ATVs, and other vehicles following a Bay Bridge takeover on Sunday. The incident began when a large group of dirt bikers and ATV riders crossed the Bay Bridge westbound into San Francisco before turning around and crossing back eastbound.
Officers from CHP San Francisco, CHP Oakland, and Oakland Police Department coordinated to stop traffic and detain the riders. When authorities moved in, the riders attempted to flee on foot, leaving their vehicles behind. Oakland PD confirmed two arrests at the scene, with additional arrests made as the operation continued. The total count of impounded vehicles exceeded 70, including dirt bikes, quads, and other vehicles.
The San Francisco Fire Department also responded to a separate incident connected to the takeover, rescuing a person who jumped into the water during the chaos.
