Last Thursday, uptown. “Confetti headBucknell’s student-run literary magazine has officially launched its second issue. “Confetti Head” was founded in 2018 to meet Bucknell’s need for a platform to feature student creative work. “Fire & Ice”, the former literary magazine was disbanded in 2016. The magazine was rebranded in 2021 and again in 2023. “Confetti Head”. This magazine publishes works of prose, poetry, and visual art.
January 18th, ‘Confetti Head’ has officially launched its second issue ever in print. This magazine was previously only available digitally. The event, organized by the magazine’s talented masthead, was a great success with many students participating and supporting the magazine. At the event, you could pick up a free pizza and a printed copy of the magazine. The event also had an open mic portion, where students shared prose and poetry.
As someone who majored in creative writing and has contributed to magazines, I was happy to see the event be a success. In the field of creative writing, it’s very important to have a strong community of writers, and events like this help strengthen that bond. This is important. Because many of the students who read the book shared vulnerable stories, and in that vulnerability they created beautiful works of art that the campus community can read and appreciate over and over again. I felt that energy at the launch. There was a feeling that despite all our differences, we were united to support each other.

Editor-in-chief Georgie Roach had nothing but positive comments about the launch. Roach, who served as editor-in-chief for two consecutive years, was instrumental in rebranding the magazine in 2023. Speaking about the event, she said:We were so excited to see so many people come out to celebrate the second issue of Confetti Head. It was a great experience to put it all together and meet many of our contributors in person for the first time. Until then, I had only read or seen their work, so it was really nice to be able to come face to face with all of their creativity that I had admired during the editing process. ”
She also said, “One of my favorite parts about creating this issue was the initial process of submissions. I tend to focus on poetry, so I’ve included fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry. I loved being able to experience submissions from different genres, such as , visual art, etc. The most rewarding part of this process was seeing the creative people in the community: other editors reviewing the submissions. I was able to work closely with the editors and contributors involved in the editorial process.”
