Consumer protection reminds the public: Sports betting is only allowed on licensed platforms, licensed establishments
It is against the law to place bets, including selling Super Bowl squares, without a license
HARTFORD — The Department of Consumer Protection is reminding the public that it is illegal to offer sports betting, including the sale of Super Bowl “squares,” without a license in Connecticut.
The three online platforms that are allowed to offer sports betting are:
- Through partnership with DraftKings and Foxwoods Casino
- Through partnership with FanDuel, Mohegan Sun
- Through a partnership with Fanatics and the Connecticut Lottery Corporation
Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods Casino also offer retail sports betting at their casinos.
In addition, there are 10 licensed retail locations that offer wagering through a partnership with the Connecticut Lottery Corporation. Retailers authorized to accept wagers are:
- Aruga’s Grill House & Sports Bar Shelton
- bobby v stanford
- Bobby V’s Windsor Locks
- sears manchester
- Sports Heaven New Haven
- winner hartford
- winner new britain
- winner milford
- Winners Waterbury
- XL Center Hartford
All other bars and restaurants may not be able to sell Super Bowl “squares” because they are a form of gambling.
“With the NFL playoffs wrapping up this weekend and the Super Bowl fast approaching, we are reminding businesses and consumers alike that it is illegal to offer betting without a license.” said. Cafferelli. “As always, adults who choose to gamble are encouraged to set time and money limits and to review the resources and information available if they or someone they know has a gambling problem.
