HOUSTON — Since 2019, Houston’s Nap Bar has evolved and grown. The company was given the opportunity to attend this year’s Grammy Awards, but owner Kalia Guillory nearly missed out on the opportunity due to USPS mail delays in the Houston area.
Guillory had to send samples along with the product to Los Angeles.
“At the Grammys, we will be creating a virtual reality snooze wellness experience,” Guillory said. “So presenters, artists, performers and executives can wear our goggles and headsets that we license and have hand-picked in-house specifically for Nap Bar. They can go on stage and present. You can rest before doing so.”
Those samples never arrived.
“When I turned the package over to USPS on January 10th, when I checked the tracker last week, it was still in Houston,” Guillory said.
The delivery deadline for the package was January 13th.
“We didn’t want them to miss out, because they thought we didn’t know how to do business when we actually did business,” Guillory said.
Luckily, she was able to explain the reason for the delay to the Grammy Awards.
Guillory said: “Thank you everyone for reporting this story so quickly. I shared the link with them so they know it’s legal and what’s going on. They worked with me. I hope it will arrive by tomorrow (January 27th).”
Nap Barr is still heading to the Grammy Awards next week and plans to bring 175 of these boxes with him.
“When we leave on Wednesday, we’ll be flying with you, so we’re guaranteed to arrive on time,” Guillory said.
Guillory will be holding a pop-up shop on Saturday. Her proceeds will help her transport the boxes onto the plane. Click here to register for the pop-up.
Guillory is just one of the thousands of people who have contacted KHOU about postal delay issues. He said another company KHOU has been in contact with is currently considering traveling to Dallas and shipping the goods from there.
KHOU has been tracking mail delays affecting people in the Houston metropolitan area since December. From collectible cards to wedding dresses to critical medical supplies, KHOU was the first to report problems and work to find solutions.
