WILKES-BARRE — The Luzerne County Arts & Entertainment Hall of Fame is now accepting nominations for the 2024 entering class.

Inductees will be recognized at the Luzerne County Arts & Entertainment Hall of Fame’s second annual induction ceremony in October.

The Luzerne County Arts & Entertainment Hall of Fame was established in 2022. Its establishment was announced in October 2022 at a press event at his FM Kirby Center in Wilkes-Barre.

The first class was announced in March 2023, and the first class commencement ceremony was held in October 2023 in Mohegan, Pennsylvania.

Its mission is to support individuals who are natives or residents of Luzerne County, or have roots in Luzerne County, who have achieved success, fame, and significant influence in the world of arts and entertainment either in Northeastern Pennsylvania or the state of Pennsylvania. It is to honor those who give. Beyond.

The incoming freshmen for the inaugural class of 2023 are:

(art) Adrian Pearsall, Barbara Weisberger, C. Edgar Patience, George Catlin, Hammond Edward “Ham” Fisher, Sue Hand, Jack Palance, Santo Loquasto.

(Entertainment) Lee Vincent, Joe Nardone & The All Stars, Eddie Day Pashinski, Jimmy Harnen, Breaking Benjamin, Bobby Baird, Brunon Kreiger/The Kreiger Brothers, The Buiz, Mel Wynn & The Rhythm Ace, The Buddies.

The Luzerne County Arts & Entertainment Hall of Fame is overseen by a volunteer steering committee that discusses inductees, fundraising, and event planning. The steering committee currently consists of Joe Nardone Sr., Bill O’Boyle, George Brown, Lindsay Griffin-Boylan, Jody Bush, Beverly Johnston, Tony Brooks and Alan Stout.

There are two subcommittees that consider Hall of Fame candidates: the “Arts” Committee and the “Entertainment” Committee. We welcome and encourage candidates from the public in both categories.

Nominees in the “Arts” category must excel in the theater, film, dance, painting, sculpture, or art design categories.

Candidates in the “Arts” category can email Tony Brooks at [email protected].

Candidates in the “Entertainment” category must excel in the field of music, television, radio, or other entertainment-specific media, not news.

Candidates in the “Entertainment” category can email Jody Busch at [email protected].

All nominations must include a brief biography of the candidate (including a photo if possible) and reasons why the candidate should be considered for nomination.

The deadline to propose candidates is March 1, 2024.

“We always welcome suggestions,” Entertainment Commissioner Jody Bush said. “Lucerne County is home to many talented and accomplished individuals who have made significant contributions to the world of arts and entertainment, both here at home and nationally. We encourage people to send their own people.”

“We also want to remind people that there is a new group of inductees each year,” Arts Commissioner Tony Brooks said. “If someone sends in a proposal and that nominee is not inducted into the Hall of Fame this year, that doesn’t mean that nominee won’t be considered again later. All nominees will be on file for years to come. It will be saved.”
