An Indiana firearms retailer will stop shipping high-capacity magazines to New Jersey after selling four magazines containing up to 60 rounds to state investigators posing as customers online, authorities say. did.

The consent order is one of several cases in which New Jersey authorities have targeted out-of-state gun dealers for allegedly shipping prohibited products to customers in the Garden State. Under the terms of the settlement announced Thursday, Element Armament will no longer be “ordered or shipped” large-capacity magazines to New Jersey.
New Jersey authorities have filed several similar cases in recent years. Several out-of-state sellers claimed in court papers that they were unaware of the ban and had little business with New Jersey residents before the sting.
In October, a state appeals court upheld a $150,000 fine against a Florida firearms retailer accused of selling a 30-round magazine to an undercover police officer in New Jersey in a similar investigation.
Attorney General Matthew Platkin said New Jersey has “no tolerance for illegal high-capacity ammunition magazines that greatly enhance the ability of shooters to quickly injure and kill large numbers of people.”
