French President Emmanuel Macron will arrive in Jaipur today as part of his two-day state visit to India. Macron is the guest of honor at this year’s Republic Day (Republic Day 2024). President Macron will begin his busy day at Jaipur’s Amer Fort. After this, he will go to the world heritage site Jantar Mantar and meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The two leaders will visit this region, which is also of historical importance to France. Jantar Mantar is the world’s largest astronomical observatory and has the world’s largest stone sundial. According to scholar Dhruv Raina, in 1734, two French Jesuit astronomers stationed at the Jesuit Mission in Chandernagar (now Chandernagar), West Bengal, were the founders of Jaipur. He was invited to the court of a certain ruler, Sawai Jai Singh. Jantar Mantar is a collection of his 19 astronomical instruments built by Sawai His Jaisingh.

Prime Minister Modi and President Macron are also believed to be able to discuss strengthening maritime cooperation in the Indo-Pacific region, the situation in the Red Sea, the Hamas-Israel conflict and the war in Ukraine.

Prime Minister Modi and President Macron will also hold a roadshow.

After this, PM Modi and Mr Macron will begin a joint roadshow from Jantar Mantar to Sanganeri Gate, with a stopover at Hawa Mahal. A photo shoot at Hawa Mahal is planned. PM Modi and Macron will also visit handicraft shops and tea shops during their visit. Afterwards, the two leaders will visit the historic Albert Hall Museum.

The day will end at Rambagh Palace, where PM Modi will host a private dinner for Macron. After this, the French President will leave for Delhi at 8:50 pm for the Republic Day parade.

Scheduled to be the guest of honor at the Republic Day ceremony

President Macron will be the guest of honor at the Republic Day parade on the official road in Delhi. A detachment of the French Army is participating in this year’s Republic Day parade. Two French Air Force Rafale fighter jets and an Airbus A330 multi-role tanker transport aircraft will also take part in the ceremony.

President Macron will be the guest of honor at the Republic Day celebrations, following in the footsteps of President Francois Hollande in 2016, President Nicolas Sarkozy in 2008, President Jacques Chirac in 1998, and President Valéry Giscard d’Estaing in 1980. He became the sixth French leader (fifth president) to do so. In 1976, Prime Minister Jacques Chirac was the guest of honor for India’s Republic Day.

Many announcements are expected

After the parade, Mr. Macron plans to go to the French embassy and speak to officials there. In the evening, he comes to Rashtrapati Bhavan for an ‘at-home’ function. President Macron’s visit commemorates the 25th anniversary of the India-France strategic partnership. There is a possibility that important announcements will be made between the two countries in the defense and strategic areas. The delegation traveling to India with Macron includes a number of ministers, CEOs, and prominent cultural and scientific figures.

Let us tell you that Prime Minister Modi attended the Bastille Day parade held in Paris on July 14 last year as the chief guest. President Macron visited India in September last year to attend the G20 summit.
