Henry Cavill wants to emulate Tom Cruise’s “dedication” as an actor.
How the ‘Argyle’ star, who plays title role in new spy comedy, draws inspiration from his own work in Hollywood and the ‘Top Gun’ action hero famous for doing all his own stunts I looked back.
Asked about the best advice he got from Tom, he told Extra: “I don’t know if he necessarily gave me any particular advice…
“Rather, it’s important to see the dedication he puts into things, and that in itself is advice.”
But he downplayed the comparisons between the two, joking about the tap dancing scene he had to film with co-star Sam Rockwell in his latest film.
he joked. “For example, he comes to the movie having learned how to fly helicopter stunts. We learned a little bit how to tap dance.
“It’s a different level of dedication and that in itself is advice.
“If you’re going to work on something, see it through to the end. Give it 100 percent.”
He tried to incorporate it into the fight scenes in Argyle, and he and Sam did their own stunts.
Henry explained: “You spend a lot of time watching each other act out the fights because usually when you’re doing your part, everyone’s like, ‘Okay, I’m going to move another actor and work with them. That’s because he says,
“You can sit back and relax, but for Sam and I…the important thing was to observe the other actor and be able to imitate him to some extent.”
Although the scrappers made the cut, the same can’t be said about the tap dance scene left on the cutting room floor.
The Man of Steel star said: “What I learned from wearing those tap shoes is that they are very dangerous… How can you move around so much and walk around normally wearing them? They’re the ones who flew it.” It’s not safe. ”
