BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) – After a lengthy investigation by Louisiana State Police, former LSU football player Kayshon Boot was arrested Thursday on charges related to illegal online gaming.
Boutte is accused of creating an online gambling account under a fictitious name and engaging in illegal gambling even though he was under the age of 21 and gambling was not legal.
His efforts resulted in more than $500,000 in winnings, much of which was used to make additional bets, investigators allege. Boot, 21, is currently on the New England Patriots roster. He played in five games for the Patriots last season. According to the arrest warrant, he is suspected of placing nearly 9,000 illegal bets, including two bets on at least one LSU football game.
WAFB I-TEAM first reported the incident on Thursday after a warrant was issued for Boutte’s arrest.
Mr. Boot turned himself in on charges of computer fraud, a felony, and a misdemeanor charge of prohibiting persons under 21 from gaming.
Boot was arraigned, placed on $6,000 bail, and released from the East Baton Rouge Parish Jail shortly thereafter.
According to his arrest warrant, Louisiana State Police were contacted by FanDuel Sportsbook in July 2023, stating that “a college athlete who is a prohibited person may have placed some sports bets.” “Yes,” he was informed.
According to the warrant, Boot allegedly created a fictitious female name, Kayla Fortenberry, to create an online gaming account and used his mother’s credit card to fund the account. ing.
According to the warrant, 17 bets were placed on NCAA football between Aug. 28, 2022, and Oct. 9, 2023, including a bet on LSU football. Investigators said six of the bets were on LSU football, including one on himself. That particular game is LSU vs. Florida State on September 4, 2022, with a bet that Boutte will personally score at least 1 touchdown in that game and a bet that he will gain over 82.5 receiving yards. According to the warrant, from 2022 to 2023:

The New Iberia native and Westgate High School graduate spent three years with the LSU Tigers as a wide receiver, appearing in 27 games and starting 21.
