On the occasion of Republic Day, two IPS officers from Uttar Pradesh will be presented with Gallantry Awards. One of these officers is DG Prashant Kumar and the other is DIG Manzil Saini. Both these officers will be presented with the Distinguished Service Award by His Excellency the President on January 26th. This was announced by the Ministry of Home Affairs.

Bihar-born Prashant Kumar is an IPS Officer of the Class of 1990. During his tenure, notorious criminals and mafias have been eliminated. He is also known by the name ‘Singham’ in the UP police.

Meanwhile, NSG DIG Manzil Saini is a 2005 batch IPS officer. He graduated from Delhi School of Economics. Mr. Manzil Saini was able to pass his UPSC exam in his first attempt. She has headed her SSP in Lucknow and Rampur. During this period he did a very good job. She was the first woman officer to hold the post of SSP in Lucknow.

Actually, this incident took place in July 2017 when Prashant Kumar was ADG Zone Meerut and Manzil Saini was SSP Meerut. Meanwhile, Dr. Shrikant Gaur of Metro Heart and Cancer Hospital in Delhi’s Preet Vihar was kidnapped and a ransom of Rs 50 crore was demanded.

Information about the kidnapping, which took place in broad daylight, was given by the Delhi Police to the then ADG Meerut Prashant Kumar and SSP Meerut Manzil Saini. The location of the criminals was tracked based on information received from Delhi Police. At that time, Kanwar Mela was at its peak in Meerut. Meanwhile, Dr Srikanth was safely recovered after a courageous encounter.

The four kidnappers who demanded ransom were also arrested. A pistol, rifle and shell casings were recovered from there.

For this encounter, Shri Prashant Kumar and Manzil Saini will be honored by the President on Republic Day. This is Prashant Kumar’s fourth medal. He received a reward of Rs 300,000 from the Chief Minister for killing notorious criminal Udayvan Yadav in an encounter, for which he had received a reward of Rs 500,000. During this time, he also won the pistol award. Apart from this, a total of 109 commendations/commendations along with 3 cash prizes were given to Prashant his Kumar from high level.
